Summer and All-Season Tires Perform Differently

While you probably know that you should get tires for your vehicles that are sized and rated according to the manufacturer's specifications, you may not be aware that there are also specific types of tires that you can have. Summer and all-season tires are different tires that are designed to handle different road and weather conditions.

Summer tires are typically called performance tires. They are meant to provide good traction in both wet and dry conditions during the hot summer months and are designed to have a better grip on the road when it is hot and wet. The tread is made of sticky compounds for better traction, and they will retain their shape when it is hot. All-season tires are made to be flexible in colder temperatures and have deeper grooves, making them a good choice for areas with light snow conditions.
